Update: GFCT Treatment Support Expands Initiatives for Prostate Cancer Treatment & Diagnosis
We recently changed our name from GFCT Focal Therapy Ltd to GFCT Treatment Support Ltd to better reflect our broader commitment to supporting all prostate cancer treatment options and helping ease pressure points in the healthcare system.
A recent example is our donation of an ultrasound machine to Scunthorpe General Hospital, enabling the launch of two new one-stop clinics for prostate cancer treatment across Humberside and Lincolnshire. This initiative is already reducing waiting times and saving some men round trips of up to 100 miles. Please take a moment to watch our video of Graham Fulford presenting this impactful donation to Israr Khan and the urology team at the hospital on Friday 4th July.
We’re also working in partnership with a national MRI scanning provider to deliver 1,000 additional scans annually, aiming to further reduce diagnostic delays.
While we are now supporting a full range of diagnosis and treatment options, our backing of focal therapies, such as HIFU, Cryotherapy, and IRE, remains central. These minimally invasive approaches could benefit around 30% of newly diagnosed men each year, significantly reducing the risk of life-altering side effects that often come with surgery or radiotherapy.
With up to 600,000 new diagnosis predicted in the next ten years this is an unprecedented opportunity to change the face of prostate cancer treatment in the UK, for today, and generations to come.
We’re proud to support Paul Sayer and the team at Prost8 UK, a charity founded by Paul after successfully undergoing HIFU nearly eight years ago. Prost8 helps men across the UK access focal therapies that may not be offered by their local hospital. So far, the charity has handled more than 1000 enquiries and from that personally supported over 200 suitable men in finding less invasive treatment options. Paul states ‘it is important to save lives, but equally important to save lifestyles!’
